Roman Tubs and Hot Springs
The Val d'Orcia area is perhaps most well known for its thermal water or hot springs.
The most extensive of these hot springs is Bagno Vignoni, located just a few miles from our condominium in San Quirico d'Orcia.
In medieval times Bagno Vignoni enjoyed great fame and many illustrious people came to cure their ailments with its water.
The water gushes up in the center pool at a temperature of 50 degrees C. or 120 degrees F. This water is used to treat reumatism, skin conditions and to heal fractures.
Other hots springs located in the area are Saturnia Terme and Bagni San Fillippe.
